to the nth degree
Learning is a life-long event. Sometimes you dig deep when you learn and sometimes it suffices just to have a more global perspective on your subject. Sometimes you need to be an expert - you need to know a subject to the nth degree. That is where we come in. We dig deep. We labor long and hard to know best how to present the information we have learned so that others might benefit from it, too. We research our topics very carefully and very thoroughly. No detail is too much. Each one of our disciplines at Cannon & Caius is taken into consideration when we delve into our next project. That’s because we want to know what we know, for you and for us, to the “nth” degree.

Ben Everidge, one of our managing partners, has written two recent books that are being featured by Cannon & Caius. Hoya: The Watchmen Waketh is Ben's debut political novel and is now available on Amazon. Rescuing Nicholas: The Secret Mission to Save the Tsar, is his first-time non-fiction work based on an eyewitness account of an unknown rescue mission authorized by an American president. Evidence of the mission has been found buried deep in the American and British archives. Rescuing Nicholas is now available on Amazon, too!

Book cover art for Hoya and Rescuing Nicholas was designed by Jeff Brostoff of Brands on Fire.

Some of the unique courses and lectures we have designed include:
Thomas Jefferson wrote America's Declaration of Independence and was our 3rd President. He founded the Democrat Party and yet his beliefs would probably make him too conservative to earn his party's nomination today were he running again. Who was Thomas Jefferson and why is he still important to us today?
The nation's 35th President was a lot like Jefferson himself and also probably conservative by today's political standards when it comes to his Party leadership. How could that be? Where would JFK fit on the modern political spectrum were he to decide to run for the highest office in the land?
Lawmaking around the world is subject to many factors in an age when social media makes news instant. The traditional forces that generated law for the people and by the people is still profound but there are new considerations to be taken into account. What are they?
A new political influence is at play when laws get made or opposed today. Nonprofit advocacy has become a new influence in how a measure comes to pass. How so? Why? What benefit does the nonprofit sector have the private and public sectors might now need to make law?
The 28th president of the United States arguably authorized one of the most intense rescue missions in history, certainly U.S. and Russian history anyway. How did he do it? Did Congress know? What were the facts surrounding the evacuation of Tsar Nicholas II and members of his family especially when Bolshevik Revolutionaries led by Vladimir Lenin were out to kill them?
George V was Nicholas' second cousin and the former Empress Alexandra's first cousin. Their shared grandmother was none other than the famed iconic Queen Victoria. How did the British king convince America's president to join the rescue effort? Why did King George V keep his own Parliament in the dark on the rescue plan? Do the archives reveal a resolution to perhaps the last unresolved murder mystery of the 20th century?
How we give matters. Do we do it for the transaction, or because our heart tells our head it is the right thing to do? What is generosity? How does it work best? What does it even mean to be generous? Are there a variety of ways to be generous, or just one?
Can corporations be generous and still meet their bottom line objectives for shareholders? What tools should a company use to be a good citizen but not sacrifice shareholder value? Who out there is doing it right? And who is doing it all wrong?

The Generosity Institute is dedicated to celebrating preeminent philanthropy. It is our mission to better understand the impact charitable gifts and investments will have on global markets as more than $59 trillion changes hands generationally through the giving, getting and management of a new generation of preeminent philanthropic gifts. The Institute is creating seven study centers at affiliated academic institutions focused on the arts, education, faith, global, health, humanitarian, nation and sports generosity studies among other subjects. The research from the GI will be shared with other parties through white papers, seminars, publications, guest lectures, and public appearances.
The Institute is supported by philanthropic funding that includes Principal Gifts, Program Related Investments, private family foundation and family office support, and sponsorship sources. 75% of the funds from the Institute go directly to the participating academic partners to further their own research initiatives at their home campuses. 25% of the funds generated by the Institute will return to those private partners who support the Institute's initiatives with their own investments.
In addition to the Generosity Institute, the nth o is also conducting original research that is intended to be published in the relative near future. Hoya: The Watchmen Cometh and Rescuing Nicholas: The Secret Mission to Save the Tsar were original research projects that began at the nth o. Several more unique works are in development currently which include:
This project profiles the ten most prominent American Secretaries of State and the role each played in serving as our nation's chief diplomat. Taken in the context of their times, Vicars of State will provide a timely update on the role the U.S. Department of State plays in conceiving and conducting foreign policy.
Canons of Congress examines the rules that govern the U.S. House and Senate and predicts what Americans can expect from their elected leaders in the years ahead. As the United States grapples to provide security at home and abroad, what new or old rules might we employ to save "the American experiment" for future generations.
